All contributions will be evaluated by at least two independentreferees. Submission of a manuscript implies that the work thereinhas not been published previously and is not under consideration forpublication elsewhere in any medium. Authors are solely responsiblefor the factual accuracy of their papers. It is the responsibility ofthe principal author to secure requisite permission from his or heremployer and all papers submitted are understood to have received dueclearance(s) for publication.
Preparation
Typescripts must be in English, typed with double line spacing,single-sided on 8.5''
11'' or A4sheets leaving at least 1'' marginson all sides, and should be numbered consecutively, beginning withthe title page. The first page should contain only (1) the title, thename(s) and address(es) of the author(s), (2) a short title, (3)name, address, fax number and e-mail of the author to whomcorrespondence and proofs should be sent. An abstract of 50-250words and 4-8 key words should follow the title page on a separatesheet. Headings and subheadings for different sections of the paper(e.g. Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion) shouldbe clearly indicated. Detailed mathematical discussions should beplaced in an appendix. Units of measurement, abbreviations andsymbols should follow the International System of Units (SI).Equations and formulae should be typewritten whenever possible.Equations should be numbered consecutively with arabic numerals inparentheses on the right-hand side of the page. Special symbolsshould be identified in the margin.
Tables and figures
Tables should be given short informative titles and should benumbered consecutively in arabic numerals. Tables may be reproducedby photo-offset, i.e. directly from the typed manuscript. Figures ina form suitable for reproduction should be submitted separately fromthe text as original drawings in India ink, or as high contrast, unmounted photographs on glossy paper. Lettering on figures should beproportional to the size of the figure to ensure legibility afterreduction. On the back of each figure should be indicated lightly insoft pencil: (1) the top of the figure by an arrow, (2) the authorand figure number. All chemical structures should be supplied asartwork suitable for direct reproduction. All figures and tablesshould be cited consecutively in the text and a list of captionsshould be provided at the end of the paper.
References
The references should be cited in the text in a sequential manner andthe reference numbers should be in square brackets. References shouldbe listed at the end of the paper in the reference section in thenumerical order.
References to journals should be given in this order: Initials andlast name(s) of author(s), standard abbreviated title of periodical(italicized)(according to the system co-sponsored by the AmericanChemical Society and listed in Bibliographical Guide for Editors andAuthors), volume number (underlined), issue number, only ifapplicable, in parentheses, first relevant page, year of publicationin parentheses, e.g.:
1. M.K. Mishra, Macromolecules,
, 5228(1996)
References to an authored book, an edited book and a paper in anedited book should be listed according to the following style:
2. G.R. Newkome, C.N. Moorefield, F. Voegtle, DendriticMolecules: Concepts, Syntheses, Perspectives, VCH Publisher, Germany(1996)
3. M.K. Mishra, O. Nuyken, S. Kobayashi, Y. Yagci and B. Sar (Eds),Macromolecular Engineering: Recent Advances, Plenum Press, NewYork (1995)
4. H. Ritter in: Functional Polymers, R. Arshady (Ed), pp.103-113. American Chemical Society, Washington, DC (1996)
If a publication is in press, the reference should be made ascomplete as possible, e.g. by stating the name of the journal andadding `in press'.
Proofs
Proofs will be sent to the designated author to check typesettingaccuracy. Alterations to the original manuscript at this stage willresult in considerable delay in publication and, therefore, are notaccepted unless charged to the author. Proofs should be returnedwithin two days of receipt.
Offprints
A password-protected PDF-file will be supplied with eacharticle for personal use. Offprints may be ordered at pricesshown on the order form, which will be sent to the authortogether with the proofs.
There are no page charges.
Short communications should be presented in the same style as a fullpaper.
Word-processor disks
The publisher's production department can use your word-processordisks. If available, please send a copy of the disk with your finalrevised manuscript (together with two copies of the printout). Thisgives a substantial decrease in typesetting time and ensures thatthere are no re-keying errors in the article. Moreover, usingword-processor disks helps us to shorten publication times. If youprovide a disk, please follow these instructions:
1.Label the disk with the author's name; the word processor/computerused (e.g., IBM-PC, Macintosh); the name of the program (e.g.,WordPerfect, TEX, MS-Word). If you have an editor's manuscriptnumber, include it in the label; 2. Send the manuscript as threefiles; if possible keep the text, figure legends, and tables inseparate files. File names must clearly indicate the content of eachfile; 3. Send separate disks if you submit more than one article atthe time; 4. A hard copy printout of the manuscript that exactlymatches the disk files must be supplied. Special characters andsymbols which are not included in the printer used, should be left asblank spaces in the files and these should be correctly written inthe printout in red; 5. Do not use footnotes; 6. Do not justify theright-hand margin.
