Manuscripts should be submitted in duplicate to:
The Editorial Committee of the Chinese Journal of Geochemistry
The Institute of Geochemistry

Manuscripts must be typed with double line spacing, single-sided on A4sheets, and should be numbered consecutively beginning with the titlepage. The first page of an article should contain only (1) title of thepaper, the name(s) and address(es) of the author(s), (2) a short title(running head) not exceeding 50 characters, (3) name and address of theauthor to whom correspondence and proofs should be sent. An abstract of50-250 words and 4-8 keywords should be included with all manuscriptsand follow the title page on a separate sheet. When a wordprocessor isused in preparing the manuscript, a hard copy output according to theabove style must be submitted.
Text
Headings and subheadings for different sections of the paper (e.g.Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion) should beclearly indicated. Detailed mathematical discussions should be place inan appendix. Units of measurement, abbreviations and symbols shouldfollow the International System of Units (SI). Equations and formulaeshould be typewritten wherever possible. Equations should be numberedconsecutively with arabic numerals in parentheses on the right-hand sideof the page. Special symbols should be identified in the margin. Type ormark mathematical equations exactly as they should appear in print.
Tables and figures
Tables should be given short informative titles and should be numberedconsecutively in arabic numerals. Tables may be reproduced byphoto-offset, i.e. directly from the typed manuscript. Figures in a formsuitable for reproduction should be submitted separately from the textas original drawings in India ink, or high contrast, sharp, unmountedphotographs on glossy paper. Lettering on figures should be proportionalto the size of the figure to ensure legibility after reduction. On theback of each figure should be indicated lightly in soft pencil: (1) thetop of the figure by an arrow. (2) the author and the figure number. Allchemical structures should be supplied as artwork suitable for directreproduction. All figures and tables should be cited consecutively inthe text and a list of captions should be provided at the end of thepaper.
References and reference section
The references should be cited in the text by the name of the author(s)and year. References should be listed at the end of the paper in thereference section in alphabetical order.
References to articles from journals should be given in this order: lastname(s) of author(s), initials, year, title of periodical (according tothe style of the AAPG Bulletin, volume number, first and last relevantpage numbers, e.g.:
Simoneit, B.R.T., 1986, Biomarker geochemistry of black shales fromCretaceous oceans --- an overview: Marine Geology, v. 70, p. 9--41.
References to a paper or chapter in a book, an authored book, and anedited book should be listed according to the following style:
Brassell, S.C., A.P. Gowar, and G. Eglinton, 1981, Computerised gaschromatography - mass spectometry in analyses of sediments from the DeepSea Drilling Project, in A.G. Douglas and J.R. Maxwell, eds., Advancesin organic geochemistry: v. 9, p. 421--426.

If a publication is in press, the reference should be made as completeas possible, e.g. by stating the name of the journal and adding `inpress'.
The publisher will supply thirty free offprints of each paper.
