Three types of papers are published in Advanced Robotics: fullpapers, short papers and reviews (which are either reviews ortutorials). Though unsolicited surveys and proposals for specialissues are welcomed, the authors should contact the Editor-in-Chiefin advance.
Short papers - contributions which are limited to 4000 words -usually describe a result, a particular technique, or an experimentof general interest. Review papers and full papers should not exceed 6000words.
Submission
Typescripts should be submitted in five copies to: The Editor-in-Chiefof Advanced Robotics, Robotics Society of Japan, 2Fl. Blue Building,2--19--7, Hongo, Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo 113-0033, Japan.
The Editor-in-Chief will forward the manuscript to one of theAssociate Editors and will notify the author. The designatedAssociate Editor will complete the review process of the manuscriptand will inform the author. The final result, however, will benotified by the Editor-in-Chief. It is the responsibility of theprincipal author to secure requisite permission from his or heremployer and all papers submitted are understood to have received dueclearance(s) for publication.
Style of Manuscript
Typescripts should be in English, typed with double-line spacing andsingle-sided on A-4 sheets and should be numbered beginning with thetitle page. The cover page must contain the title, the name andaddress of the author, as well as the category of the paper (e.g.review) and five keywords.An abstract (200 words for full paper and surveys, and 50words for short ones) should follow the title page on a separatesheet.
Text
Headings and subheadings for different sections of the paper shouldbe clearly indicated. Equations and formulae must be typewritten andnumbered consecutively with arabic numerals in parentheses
Figures in a form suitable for reproduction should be submittedseparately from the text as original drawings in India ink, or ashigh contrast, sharp photographs on glossy paper. Lettering onfigures should be proportional to the size of the figure to ensurelegibility after reduction. All figures and tables should be citedconsecutively in the text and a list of short descriptive captionsshould be provided at the end of the paper.
References
References should be cited in the text using a number in squarebrackets in order of appearance. References are listed at the end ofthe paper in numerical order.
