This bimonthly journal is founded in response to a recent surge inthe number of researchers in the field of composite interfaces. It isnow recognized that one of the most important aspects of compositematerials is the understanding of interface and interphasestructures. While traditional trial-and-error approaches haveadvanced composite technology in the past, stricter propertyrequirements now demand complex and systematic design of compositematerials. Issues contain articles of high scientific standard andemphasize fundamental understanding of interface-related phenomena.

Composite Interfaces provides a forum for interdisciplinaryscientific and engineering research on compositeinterfaces/interphases and their related phenomena. It presents newconcepts and approaches for composite interface study. The journalbalances interest in chemistry, physical properties, mechanicalproperties, molecular structures, characterization techniques andtheories.

Composite Interfaces covers a wide range of topics including --- butnot restricted to --- surface treatment of reinforcing fibers andfillers; effect of interface structure on mechanical properties, physical properties, curing and rheology; coupling agents; synthesisof matrices designed to promote adhesion; molecular and atomiccharacterization of interfaces; interfacial morphology; dynamicmechanical study of interphases; interfacial compatibilization;adsorption; tribology.

The journal publishes articles encompassing composites with organicand inorganic materials and includes composites applied to aerospace, automotive appliances, electronics, construction, marine, optical andbiomedical fields. Although blends, coatings and adhesives are nottraditionally called composites, they are an important part of thejournal since their interfacial structures and properties have greatsimilarities to composite interfaces.
