Proceedings of ICF International Symposium on Fracture Mechanics

China, 1983

Editors: Hwang Kehchih, Liu Chuntu and He Quingzhi

This volume contains 132 selected papers presented at the first international symposium on fracture mechanics held in China. This symposium was co-sponsored by the Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, the Chinese Society of Aeronautics and Astronautics under the auspices of the International Congress on Fracture. In this volume one may find many eminent international figures in the field of fracture mechanics, such as Profs. D.M.R. Taplin, Takeo Yokobori, C.E. Turner, H.W. Liu, S.N. Atluri, S. Nemat-Nasser, Hwang Kehchih, Liu Chuntu and He Qingzhi, H. Miyamoto, Y. Ueda, together with contributors from 12 other countries.

Among the 132 papers there are 16 invited ones, these were especially chosen to cover major trends in fracture mechanics and written by eminent specialists currently working on the respective subjects. All papers are grouped under six headings: (1) Elastic and elastic--plastic fracture mechanisc; (2) Applications of fracture mechanics; (3) Test methods; (4) Fatigue; (5) Fracture models and micro-mechanisms and (6) Fracture of non-metals.

Seventy papers are from Chinese contributors. It is the first time that Chinese scientists and engineers working on this field presented their studies to the outside world in such a large number and in various topics. Researchers interested in fracture mechanics will find recent advances in this field in this book.

The Proceedings of ICF International Symposium on Fracture Mechanics also serves as a reference book for engineers, applied mathematicians, metallurgists, physicists and other scientists as well as graduate students.
