The Fourth Pain Clinic Symposium, and meeting of the WorldSociety of Pain Clinicians was held in Kyoto, Japan, 18--21 November1990. It provided as international forum at which pain clinicians had theopportunity to discuss the recent developments and progress in the fieldof pain treatment.
This proceedings volume contains all lectures from the plenary sessionsand from the following symposia: ``sympathetic nervous system and pain''and ``present and future problems on the pain clinics''. Also includedare selected free papers on cancer pain; reflex sympathetic dystrophy,deafferentiation pain and stimulation therapy; and various topics onpain management.
This volume will be of interest and value primarily to pain cliniciansbut also to many other (bio)medical specialists for whom the topic ofpain is of prime concern, e.g. in the fields of anesthesiology, neurology,surgery, oncology, pharmacology and rheumatology.
