This proceedings volume contains the plenary lectures and selectedcontributed papers which were given at the Fifth InternationalPetrozavodsk Conference on Probabilistic Methods in DiscreteMathematics, 1-6 June 2000, Petrozavodsk, Russia. The themes of theconference covered almost all areas of discrete mathematics, such asprobabilistic problems of combinatorics, statistical problems ofdiscrete mathematics, theory of random graphs, systems of randomequations in finite fields, and questions on information security. Aconsiderable part of the lectures dealt with game theory andmathematical statistics.
