This monograph thoroughly investigates the methods for solving linearoperator equations from the viewpoint of their stability relative todisturbance of the initial information. It focuses on the operatorequations: Au = f, where u, f are desired and given elements ofcertain metric spaces (U and F respectively), and A is a given operatoracting from U unto F. The concept of an optimum to a method for solvingthe equation Au = f with an approximately given operator is introducedand an analysis of the methods from the viewpoint of their optimums ispursued. Problems of regularizing operator equations with a disturbancein the operator are considered. General schemes for finite-dimensionalapproximation of regularized solutions are also formulated andinvestigated. This book will be of value and interested to specialistsin the field of functional analysis.
