Heterogeneity in clinical features of various neurodegenerativediseases as well as in drug addiction highlights the importance ofneurochemical markers as a diagnostic tool. Establishing a primaryrole for neurochemical markers in any neurodegenerative disorder orin drug addiction is an important strategy in the design of newtherapeutic agents for effective management of these clinicalconditions in the future. The question is, however, whether theseneurochemical markers reflect a primary neurophysiological orneurochemical event in the disease process or whether it reflectssecondary events which appeared at the time of disease diagnosis.
The aim of this book is to present as much detailed information aspossible that is currently available on various neurochemical markersand their metabolic pathways, which may form the basis for futurediagnostic support in various neurodegenerative disorders as well asin the tackling of the huge problem of drug addiction.
This volume will be of value and interest to researchers andclinicians involved in neurosciences, biochemistry and pharmacology.
